NOC Managing Director Khadka threatens journalist Paudel

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) Managing Director Gopal Khadka has allegedly threatened Nagarik Daily Newspaper journalist Dilip Paudel of destroying his career.

“You have also a family, think about it,” said Khadka, using threatening words, read a statement issued by Federation of Nepali Journalists Republica Chapter on Friday.

It is learnt the NOC Managing Director warned Paudel in response to a news about irregularity during land purchase deal to build fuel storage facilities for NOC.

Paudel, who had reached Ministry of Supply in Singhadurbar to collect the news today, was threatened by Khadka this afternoon, the statement read.

Poudel had written the news about embezzlement of 670 million during the land purchase deal in the Nagarik and Republica on July 17.



The Federation of Nepali Journalists Republic Chapter said that its serious attention has been drawn towards the incident and demanded stern action against Khadka at the earliest.

It also demanded government, Federation of Nepali Journalists and National Human Rights Commission to ensure press freedom and protection of Paudel.
