The Nepal Police headquarters sources said DIG Silwal was arrested for investigation into the case in which is accused of forging records in order for his own benefit. He, however, faces charges of manipulating the records of internal evaluation of four DIGs who were contenders for the top cop post.

An extended full bench led by Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli heard the writ petition on Thursday.

Justices in the bench included Mira Khadka, Om Prakash Mishra, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Purushottam Bhandari.

The hearing has been postponed till August 3, said SC Spokesman Mahendra Upadhyay.

DIG Silwal had moved the SC on April 11, seeking annulment of the decision to promote Prakash Aryal to the IGP.
